Unlimited Templates BadgeBuilder Express allows only one badge design per database. BadgeBuilder can have an unlimited number of designs.

Unlimited Badges BadgeBuilder Express allows only 250 badges per database. In BadgeBuilder there is no practical limit.

Magnetic Card Encoding Automatically program magnetic stripes with data from the badge database.

Conditional Images Display different images on the badge based on the contents of the database. For example, if the department field contains "Engineering" show a blue circle image, if "Sales" a red triangle images, and so on.

PDF417 Two Dimensional Barcode Allows a greater amount of data to be stored in a bar code.

Alignment Tools When designing badges, a toolbox is available to aid in positioning and aligning elements of the design.

ODBC Database Access BadgeBuilder Express uses Microsoft Access only. BadgeBuilder can access most databases types via the ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) interface.

Unlimited Number of Database Fields BadgeBuilder Express is limited to 10 fields. BadgeBuilder is capable of accessing a practically unlimited number of fields.

Dossier Quickly switch a person's data to be displayed and printed in an alternate design, such as a dossier.

MCI Video Capture Added support for using video capture devices which use the MCI interface.

Fingerprint Capture Capture and storage of fingerprints using commercially available fingerprint capture devices.

Signature Capture Capture and storage of signatures using commercially available signature capture hardware.

Multiple Photos An unlimited number of different photos unique to each badge can be captured, stored and displayed. For example, a photo of the child and each of its parents can be displayed.

Sophisticated Selection As well as Fast Find, a dialog is available for complex selection of a subset of badges.

Geometric Shapes A wide range of geometric shapes are available during the design process.

Auto Fill In When entering card data, certain fields can be automatically filled in with data entered during the last badge creation.

Lockable Field Certain fields can be locked to prevent data from being changed in existing badges.

Preset Fields Fields can optionally be set to only allow data from a preset dropdown list of data, ensuring data consistency.

Alarm Fields Fields storing time and data information can be set to generate an alarm when the current time or data passes that stored in the database for a given badge.

Verification A card reader can be added to the PC, and the badge located in the database when a card is swiped. A historical record is maintained for all successful and unsuccessful matches.

Reports A range of reports is available documenting the various actions taken with the database, including changes to the data and search results.

Smart Card Encoding Support for encoding MiFare smart cards using the optional encoder in a Magicard printer. The ability to read a smart card using the printer is also available.

Server Mode A special mode of operation used when a customer-supplied application communicates with, and controls the operation of, BadgeBuilder.

XML and DDE Control Both an XML and DDE interface are available for customer-interface and control of BadgeBuidlder.

Bar Code Width Fine tuning of bar code widths to ensure reliable operation with all bar code readers.

Double-Sided Badge Support Full support for printers which are capable of printing on both sides of the card.

Flexible Character Styles Text can be switched to bold, underlined, italic, or changed in size, anywhere within the text element to be placed on the badge.

Logical Fields Fields can be optionally set to logical, resulting in just a check box in the data entry screen. The text to be displayed on the badge when the field is true or false is fully configurable.

Round Rectangle Corners Display rectangles on the badge can have a variable degree of rounding of the corners.

Photo Ghosting Photographs can be displayed as a "ghosted" image in grey color tones.

Photo Filling The backgrounds of suitably created photos can be replaced by a solid color.

Transparency Photos and graphic images can show the background of the badge through them. The color selected for transparency is fully configurable.

Auto Font Sizing A text rectangle on a badge can be set to auto font sizing. The font will be reduced from that specified until all text can be displayed within its bounds.

Hidden Fields Database fields can be set to be hidden when data entry is performed. The data in such fields cannot be seen or altered.

Header and Footer When printing, a header and footer can be added, with options for page number display, number of pages, and date. This feature is principly intended for use with the Dossier capability.
